Ranked #44: Trump will go down as the worse president in US history because he never made a presidential decision based on the US Constitution, but on how it will benefit himself and his business. All of his many consequent failures are a result of this core decision. He has proven to be the most destructive president in American history due to his egregiously bad handling of the COVID 19 virus where upwards to 400,000 Americans have died and inciting an insurrection to the US Capitol inspired by his misinformation campaign claiming he won the 2020 presidential election by a landslide and consistently declaring that the election was rigged against him. He has been impeached twice, failed to win the popular vote and failed to be re-elected. He also promotes some of the most notoriously corrupt leaders in the world while he neglects and often insults some of the most reliable American allies.
Summary: He is 6’ 2” and weights roughly 250 pounds. He is ambitious, self-absorbed, outgoing, affable, high maintenance, exploitative, impetuous, paranoid and controlling. He also has the uncanny ability to arouse, engage and direct the public. He seems to be constantly creating his own narrative to fit his most immediate situation, based on decoupling facts from reality and never taking blame.
Bio: : Trump is possibly the richest person to ever been elected to office. He is also the first president ever elected that neither previously held elected office or served in the military. He is the fifth president to be elected without getting a majority of the popular vote. He also entered office with the lowest public approval rating of any previous president since polling began, largely because of his documented sexual improprieties and his uncanny ability to be racist and incite violence on Twitter.
He has had a career as a real estate developer and TV personality. He has five children from three marriages. He also employs Twitter as his tool of choice for communicating with his staff. He is also the first president to receive his daily briefings from a cable news network as oppose to his professional staff.
Politically speaking he is a plutocratic authoritarian. He prefers to surround himself with a small group of advisors and confidantes comprised mostly of his family members. He seems to have contempt for most everybody that disagrees with him including but not limited to the free press. He mainly markets himself as a brand in and of itself. As a platform for running for president, he regarded himself as the defender of “forgotten Americans” against all foreign threats. On a certain level, he appears to have no respect for the established American democracy, including apparently thinking the rule of law does not apply to him. He basically consolidates power in an effort to eliminate any threats from anybody attempting to take it from him. While most elected officials who are caught lying pay a high price, Trump is a rare individual that can use the art of lying as a power play that often will cause a close associate to suffer a career crash, yet leave him untouched.
If there is a way to sum up Trump, it can be suggested that he wakes up every morning to face the mess he made previously and does whatever it takes to distract everybody else from seeing it. He is so far in this hole, that he may never dig himself out.
He seems to have so far focused a great deal of presidential energy on running his personal business on the dime of the American tax payer. Much has been made of his relationship with Russia and the possible influence it had on the 2016 presidential election. Although the election is debatable, it is likely that the core of the Russian relationship is mostly centered around the fact that Russian bankers are almost entirely the only people who will lend his family money, since American bankers have refused to lend to him some years ago.
Pros: He will eventually leave office.
Cons: He may refuse to leave office even if he loses the 2020 election.
